Our Journey

FROM REBEL SOULS
TO SOUL REBEL

NOT JUST A NAME, A WAY OF BEING

Soul Rebel was born out of a tiring cycle of reading and consuming soul-less reboots, stories of mind numbing sameness and stories that either annex or misrepresent the black experience and culture. Stories that reduce us into a monolith with no nuance, heart or feel. With a disappointing lack of viable alternatives.

Soul Rebel was inspired by the greats of yesteryear, whose commitment to excellence, transported us to new frontiers in this art-form, creating fully realised, worlds, characters and stories that have stayed with us through generations, across the globe....

Soul Rebel is fuelled by a desire to go to the cinema/watch TV and to feel again, to be moved & inspired again, to re-define the form and cerebral formulas the “Industry” presents as the only pathway and to tap back into art and the beauty of creation. Whilst also giving a nod to my own roots, the beautiful island of Jamaica. Whose mere existence is a result of acts of revolution by heroic figures who grew tired of the system that was and decided to become the change they wanted to see.

It is from that inner stirring, Soul Rebel is born. We exist to be the outliers who disrupt the status quo, Who bring new ideas and ways of being to the table, in a truly bold and unapologetic fashion. We buck trends and refuse to peddle tired ideas/ideologies and we represent not what was, but what is and will be. Shining light on worlds and subcultures audiences have never seen and sat with before and tapping into the universal themes that unite us as humans, regardless of race, sexuality, gender or creed. Placing community and our people at the centre, away from the often cold, hierarchical “Industry” way of being.

Our Wider and Creative world is crying out for a counter-cultural, revolutionary movement, a new wave in a world of conformity and we aim to be a cornerstone of that new wave. With a central mission, of changing the world around us one story at a time.

Welcome to the future. Welcome to Soul Rebel.

SO FAR...

I am a British Actor/Writer/Filmmaker and founder of Soul Rebel Productions. I was born and raised in London and I’m an Alumni of BRIT School. From a young age, I've had a passion for telling stories. I’ve always sought to challenge traditional norms and negative stereotypes of the black experience, that are prevalent within the media.

I made my professional debut aged 17 At London’s Old Vic theatre. Later appearing in Michael Boyd’s acclaimed production of the Cherry Orchard at the Bristol Old Vic and the Manchester Royal Exchange. ...

I gained more exposure appearing in Debbie Tucker Green’s play Ear For Eye At London’s Royal Court theatre and also featured in the BBC/BFI film adaptation, which released in 2021 after a successful global festival run. I played Jakob, the lead in Remi Laudat’s debut film Mi O LE KÚ. Which won awards at an array of global film festivals

My creativity has taken from in front of to also behind the Camera and I’ve recently completed my directorial debut film The Last Dance, which will embark on a global film festival campaign in 2025.
